Art with Heart is the charity art sale we run in partnership with the Artists Open Houses Festival, throughout May. It’s a great opportunity to buy art online, or in person, whilst supporting a good cause.
Over 30 artworks have been kindly donated by festival artists, with all proceeds directly supporting our work with young people experiencing or facing homelessness. There’s a wonderful mix of media and prices to suit every budget, from £25 for a small lino print to £400 for an original acrylic and pencil on canvas panel.
Alongside the acrylic and oil on canvas paintings, linocuts, photography, prints and illustrations you’d expect, there are pieces made from copper wire, decoupage, embroidery, gold, knitted wool, pen & charcoal and wood. Fine jewellery too.

Each artwork listed shows where you can view the piece, but if you see something you like online and want to snap it up, you can do that right away.
A huge thank you to all donating artists – and to festival visitors who buy this art.
The Artists Open Houses movement shares some key values with Sussex Nightstop. Both with origins in the 1980s, they open homes up to the public with a spirit of generosity and warmth.
For artists, it’s all about giving people an opportunity to view art in an informal home environment, as opposed to an art gallery, which lends itself to a more relaxed visitor experience. Art students also benefit from this more accessible approach.
Just as Artists Open Houses was a natural response to the elitism of art galleries, the national Nightstop movement – which started in Leeds – was a logical community response, that sought to address homelessness by opening up volunteer homes to young people in need. If you’d like to find out more about how Sussex Nightstop supports young people who need to leave home, are sofa-surfing, sleeping rough, or facing the end of a their current housing arrangements, visit our home page.
We very much appreciate our relationship with Artists Open Houses and the generosity of participating artists. A huge thank you from all of us to all of them.
