Artist Notes: The Outsider is the last of a series of four paintings. I experimented with a different approach, applying Robert Motherwell's technique of “Paint first with all the richness then subtract". Of course, the painting came out quite different from the others in the series and got its name. In an act of inclusion, it was kept. A sweet bouquet, a sweet black sheep bouquet.
