Do you need our help?
If you are aged 16-25 and homeless we may be able to help. Subject to our criteria and availability, accommodation can be offered to you in the homes of our volunteers. We accept referrals for young people from Monday – Friday 10am – 4pm. While staying in Nightstop, you will work with housing support services to secure long term housing.
If you are over 26 please refer to the information on our Adult Service page.
When staying with our hosts, you can expect: Your own private bedroom, an evening meal and breakfast when you leave in the morning, somewhere you can wash your clothes and have a bath or shower, bus tickets to cover your journey to and from your host’s home, a ‘listening ear’ or some space to yourself. A befriender can also take you to your hosts home, so you don’t have to go to a strangers home alone.
Accommodation is arranged on a night by night basis to begin with, once we know more about your situation it is possible to offer longer-term placements with hosts.
If you are in housing need and would benefit from some advice, or a Nightstop placement, please contact the Youth Advice Centre (YAC), YMCA, 11 St. George’s Place, Brighton. Tel: 01273 624432
YAC is open Monday – Friday, for drop in housing advice between 9am – 12pm and general advice from 3 – 6pm. Outside of office hours if you are under 18 you can present to the police station to be housed by the council, if you are over 18 you will need to find accommodation with friends, family or in a local back-packers hostel, until we can meet you.
Nightstop placements can also be arranged through your Social Worker.
If you live outside of Brighton and Hove please contact your local council for housing advice.
